Ice-T Blasts NYPD for Seat Belt Arrest
July 20,2010 - New York City police arrested rapper-actor Ice-T for allegedly driving with a suspended license this morning near West 40th Street and 11th Avenue. Officers pulled him over in a 2009 Cadillac for not wearing a seat belt, but when they ran his license the officers said it came back suspended. He was briefly arrested, cited and then released.
Ice-T responded briefly through his Twitter account denying reports that his license is suspended, blasting the cop that arrested him and chastising the media for reporting on his arrest and making it national news, for what he considered a petty infraction. "The fact that it made national news in 10 minutes raises the question... How petty is our news today? What about the War and the Gulf?"
Ice-T is ironically best known as the rapper that put out the controversial hit "Cop Killer", and then went on to play a cop in the groundbreaking film "New Jack City" and eventually played Detective Fin Tutuola on the TV drama "Law & Order: Special Victims Unit" for 10 years.
