Too $hort Arrested Following Show in Boise
Too Short and one of his associates were briefly jailed early Thursday after Boise police say they got into a fight with security workers at the Knitting Factory concert club following a concert. Short is charged with three counts of misdemeanor battery. His associate, Michael T. Walton is charged with two counts of misdemeanor battery. Both were taken to the Ada County Jail early Thursday, where they were released after posting bond.
Boise police were called to the Knitting Factory just after 11 p.m. Wednesday to investigate a report of a fight. Three employees of the club who work security told police they had been punched, kicked and pushed by Shaw and Walton. Witnesses told police the fight began after those security employees told Shaw club policy forbid him from taking females under age 21 backstage and into his dressing room, according to police reports.
Too Short spoke out about the incident and blasted reports suggesting that he was inappropriately fraternizing with young women. He told told XXLmagazine that "The accusations against me regarding my arrest in Idaho on July 15th were untrue and exaggerated."
"Due to my work with young people in Oakland, I am extremely outraged at the way I am being portrayed. The incident that night was completely taken out of context, and I have not and never will take advantage of any woman that is underage."
Too Short is due in court August 4 and could face a $1,000 fine and up to six months in prison if convicted.
